Playas del Coco Area Guide

 

Playas de Coco has a priviledged location inside Papagayo Gulf and close to amazing beaches like Hermosa, Ocotal, and even Conchal. These are my suggestions while visiting this Guanacaste's golf gold coast:

 

Restaurants

The Lookout

Outside of Coco Beach, on a hill overlooking the town. Come for the great sunsets but specially for the seafood. Reservations are highly recommended at this small cozy place.

 

Villa Italia

Amazingly great italian. Perfect for a romantic dinner - order the Four Cheese Gnocchi or the Ravioli. Wow!

 

Aqua Sport 

Over in the next beach over from Coco is Aqua Sport. This Hermosa beach tradition offer tables right on the beach and great food. Choose this for a chill afternoon.

 

Ginger
Also in Hermosa Beach, this option offers more a california feel to eating but we recommend it because of the great ribs and margaritas.

 

Bars/Nightclubs

Zi Lounge

Chill out outside while looking at Monkeys walk above you at Zi's. The food is amazing - the wings are my favorite, but you can't go wrong with the other options like burgers, pizzas, and quesadillas. Enjoy the happy hour specials.

 

Coconutz

Much like Zi Lounge - it has amazing food and drink specials while sitting outside enjoying seeing the monkeys - this bar is more of an NFL hangout for Packers fans but everyone is welcome at Dan's place.

Vida Loca

The place to go see sunsets. Located in Coco beach. It is a good option for a cold beer and hanging out watching the amazing Guanacaste sunset. 

 

Activities

Volcano Day Trip

Drive about 1 hour and you will get to Rincon de la Vieja volcano and Hacienda Guachipelin. For a mere $80 day pass, you enjoy river tubing, zip lining, horseback riding, a volcano mud spa and lunch. This is a complete day activity - we recommend getting there before 9am so you can be done with all the choices by sunset.

 

Zip Lining | Horseback |Hiking Trails

Just 20 minutes from Coco Beach and 30 minutes from Conchal - you can do zip lining, and many other activities in one place. Breathtaking ocean views as you zip down a mountain.

Sunset Cruise

A 2 pm hotel pickup starts a great afternoon in a catamaran off the Coco beach. The rate includes all you can eat and drink - we recommend it for an afternoon of sun and great new friends.

 

 

There are many other activities and restaurants but I have listed the best of the best. If you are staying more than a couple of days, we recommend that you add an overnight visit to Arenal or Monteverde. We can suggest an itinerary and arrange a perfect Costa Rica vacation.
